The Wheels of The Bus Go Round and Round

Pretty soon our morning commute will be hampered by all of the big yellow school buses that we will be sharing the roads with. Sometimes it can set you back a good 15 or 20 minutes if you get stuck behind the wrong school bus and can’t get around it. It amazes me how many cars don’t respect the importance of these school buses that are responsible for transporting the next generation, the cars that don’t stop when the bus stops or the cars that zoom around them at times that can be dangerous for everyone concerned. I used to know a woman that was a school bus driver and she could tell you some pretty outrageous stories of things that she has experienced and seen while behind the wheel of one of the big yellow school buses.

Online Gay Travel Buddy

I’m looking forward to going out of town over the weekend with a good friend who knows all the best Gay Bars and Restaurants in the San Francisco, Castro Area to take me to when we visit her good friend who moved to the San Francisco area a few years ago. Going to a Gay Bar by yourself just isn’t the same as going with a great group of friends of various sexual preferences. I can honestly say that I’ve never had a bad time at one of these establishments, although there seems to be drama every which you turn, can’t say that that is unexpected in those environments though. One day I’d love to go to some of the clubs in New York City, bet those are some “wild” nights going on there.

Anyways, I don’t think I’ll be taking my laptop over the weekend. There will be no time for such things, any down time I’m sure will be trying to catch up on some sleep and then there is always the nursing of the inevitable ‘morning after’ hang over that are getting harder and harder to get over as I am getting older. My friend does have Internet access, so there is a chance I’ll check my emails, but I can’t promise I’ll be doing any blogging until I get back home, but who knows what will really happen until it all goes down and I’m down with just about anything while visiting there.

At least it won’t be a real short trip/visit, I’ll get there (if everything goes right) Friday afternoon and won’t have to leave until Monday afternoon, which will give me time to really spend time doing what I want to do with the people that I want to do it with, without the rush, rush that is always so abundant on those really short weekend trips that end up being a tremendous amount of effort and money for a few short days.

Rodeo!

Guest written by our friend Gladys Fuentes

There are few things I like better than being in a loud, hot Rodeo auditorium. Ever since I moved to Texas, I’ve had a major crush on all the rodeo riders and you can find me here just about every weekend. I’ve even taken a few roping lessons myself to find out what all the fuss was about. Turns out it was much harder than it looks! I didn’t realize moving here would change my life in so many ways, but it definitely has. Aside from the rodeo thing I had to get a car, research electricity rates at SHOPelectricityRATESTexas.com and even learn to start saying “yall”…that does not come naturally to me! The good news is I look great in cowboy boots and a cowboy hat and I like being hot rather than cold, so in those respects I’m really fitting right in. I like it a lot here and I find myself really drawn to the Texan culture, which I guess is a good thing since I’ll probably be here for years!

A Helping Hand Over Father’s Day

Since my folks went out of town over the Father’s Day weekend (which was a first for them in many a years) I spent the weekend helping a friend, Roger, who I met when we both worked at a car repair service center back in the 80′s. So we have known each other long and have always been there to help each when we could. So when he emailed me last week asking me to help him at a local Trade Show so that he can try and drum up some business for his mail and packaging businesses that he opened only a few years ago, right before the economy started taking a major dive.

Trade shows are a great way to promote your company and a great place to do some major networking at the same time. He went and bought a ton of stuff for his booth/spot, like some good quality trade show flooring for starters. It is definitely not something that one person should even try and do by themselves, it would actually have been nice to have a few more helping hands with some strong backs to help as well, I was working up a sweat there at the end. There was a logo canopy, some good looking logo mats and a good sized roll of some trade show carpet that he had his company’s name printed on it, which came out pretty good I might say.

Anyway it seems to have been a success. There were only a handful of the give-a-ways left on the table. He ran out of business cards by mid-day, in which I kept razzing him about, he really should have brought more as back up, but I was just the free help there to lend a hand, in which I did a pretty good job I have to say. I’m glad that is was a success and I wish him all the luck in the world and I’ll be sure to send as many people as I can to him that need that type of mail and packaging service.

Where is Globe AZ?

As much as I’ve been to and through Arizona over the years, I have never heard of a town called, Globe, Arizona until today. I have been trying to look it up on Google Maps, but it freezes up and won’t load the page. Then I tried to use Yahoo, and they don’t even want you to use their maps search anymore – it is hidden deep in the options menu and you don’t get to type in just the city you want, they require a starting point and destination to give you directions instead o just showing you a map.

I even tried to search using home security globe as a search term and that came up with a link to a dead web page. I’m so frustrated! I thought I was going to find an ADT authorized home security company and all I got was an html index of graphics folders. Bizzarre!

All I wanted to know is if Globe, AZ is a suburb of a ajor city, or is it out in the boonies? Do they get cable TV in Globe? Of do the homeowners have to get  “Direct tv”? It really shouldn’t take 15 minutes to do what should be a simple search and get this kind of question answered!
