Hit The Road

The “Road of Life” has many turns and even more Treasures……

Here are some great pictures, I wish there were captions saying where these are…. I’d love to see something like this in person.

Oil Change

Wednesday, August 18th, 2010 | Finance, Travel/Auto, business, money, shopping, technology | No Comments

The price of getting an oil change done has dropped. Car repair stores are competing heavily for business and the prices are so low that it makes it hard not to take advantage of their services. I’m used to doing my oil change myself, but after paying for the oil and filter it is worth just a few more dollars for someone else to do it.

Moving Services

These days making a move is still a major chore, all the decisions that have to be made and then all of the wrapping and packing and cleaning that is involved can be very traumatic for all concerned. An exciting time but a lot of work to make it happen.

At least now finding Movers are a bit easier, due to the Internet. You can look up Moving Companies and see what they are all about and what they have to offer. Much better than using the old paper version of your local yellow pages and calling around getting Moving Quotes and seeing what type of specific Moving Services that they have to offer you.

The Internet has brought the world right to our finger tips and I don’t know what we will do without it these days. I know most people don’t even use their local white and yellow pages anymore. I can only hope that when they receive them that they have the sense to recycle them and not just throw them in the trash that will ultimately end up in an already over flowing landfill.

Track Meets are a Family Affair

Thanks to Darwin Barton

My nephew recently joined a track team with other kids his age. My sister and I like to walk around the track as the kids practice. It is a great way to get some exercise in and be involved and nearby as he improves his track skills. It is a real family affair during actual track meets because the entire family comes by to support him and my younger cousins as they compete in tournaments. Before we leave, we make sure to pack the cooler and set the alarm system. We also pack large umbrellas to provide shade during sunny days.

Although this is my nephew’s first time being in track, it is not the first year that we’ve had other children in our family. Therefore, going to track meets as a family is a regular occurrence in our family. Watching the kids in our family participate in track tournaments is exciting. Although they never come in first, we are proud of them nonetheless. It is a real blast to cheer them on and congratulate them, no matter what place they come in. The best thing about the kids playing track is that they can visit us between their individual competitions because there are so many teams out there competing. We are able to talk with them, encourage them and support them during their big day.

Whale Wars

I find it interesting that so many people are willing to put their lives on the line in order to help protect our diminishing numbers of whales. The Animal Planet Channel has so many good shows going on this past season, I have to give them a pat on the back for coming up with such good programming ideas. We need more please!
