Deer Hunting with Jesus

A good buddy of mine took on the task of writing a book and he called me up the other evening and asked if he could come over, that he had something to give me. He showed up at my door with a six pack and an autographed copy of his newly published book entitled “Deer Hunting with Jesus” – Dispatches from America’s class war - ”A raging, hilarious, and profane love song to the great American redneck.” by my good friend himself – Joe Bageant.

We spent a pleasant evening drinking his beer, talking about his book and rehashing the good old days until 1:30 that morning. It was reall good seeing my old friend and am so tickled that he took the time to come over to hand deliver his book that I can’t wait to start reading.

Christmas Is Fast Approaching

Seems that the family is up in arms over the up and coming Christmas holidays that are fast approaching us. Faster than I can to think. These pats few years have really taken it’s toll on everyone, there isn’t a single soul that I know that hasn’t been struggling, struggling hard due to the economy in such turmoil, and the news isn’t all that promising that things will change any time soon.

You see the family has been wanting to check into some travel books and online sites that will assist with planning a family get a way during the long holiday breaks that most of us get to enjoy. The kids in the family have really been looking forward to spending time with relatives that they don’t get to see very often. They have all been pushing to go some where that they can enjoy all of the numerous winter sports that are available these days. The big one is snowmobiling and snow boarding, which has become so popular the people much younger than me, I can tell you that.

The older folks in the family are all about going somewhere nice and warm to get as far away as they can from the harsh winter weather that we always experience during those winter months. As they say “you can’t please everyone” but if no one can afford this family event it doesn’t look like any of us will be going anywhere any time soon, sigh….

Gene Simmons just keeps on trucking these days. His show “Family Jewels” on the A & E channel always cracks me up. His girl friend is one good looking lady, sweet eye candy. I saw this video on his show last year and enoyed it and was glad to find it on You Tube.

I learned something today that I can’t believe I had no previous knowledge about, the subject of Google’s page ranking has caught my interest so I started asking questions and was told to go to the web-site of populararticles.com/tools where I found the following interesting information that I would like to share in today’s posting.

“Google PageRank is Google’s way of assessing the relative quality of a Web site or Web page on the Internet. PageRank is measured on a scale of 0 to 10. The stronger the PageRank of a given Web page, the higher the corresponding score on the scale. My Google PageRank allows Webmasters to view their site’s PageRank online. In addition, Webmasters can use the provided code from the My Google Page Rank tool to display their site’s PageRank to their visitors. ”

You can go to this web-site as described above and type in the browser address of the site in question and it will tell you with just one click of your mouse button and it also gives instructions on how to install this feature on your Google toolbar for faster and easier usage.

This is information that I’m glad I found out about and it answers a lot of questions that had been going unexplained and unanswered for some time now.

I saw this on Facebook today, yes I’m on Facebook these days! And since I am a serious Dr. Seuss fan I really enjoyed it enough to post it here.

I do not like this Uncle Sam, I do not like his health care scam. I do not like these dirty crooks, or how they lie and cook the books. I do not like when Congress steals, I do not like their secret deals. I do not like ex-speaker Nan, I do not like this ‘YES WE CAN’..I do not like this spending spree, I’m smart, I know that nothing’s free. I do not like their smug replies, when I complain about their lies. I do not like this kind of hope. I do not like it. nope, nope, nope. I fear Obama may be through, but I hate that Bachman and PALIN too!

E*Trade Commercials on Facebook

More and more people are putting videos on Facebook to share with their “Facebook Friends” which is cool, it is a good way to find entertaining videos that have all ready been viewed and critiqued by people that you “care” about. I have always enjoyed these commercials done by E*Trade and this one is one of the better ones.

Trade Stocks Online

I just heard that my eldest sister has up and quite her full time job at the pharmacy that she has been working so hard at for the past couple of years. She spent a good amount of time, effort and money to go back to school in order to become a pharmacy tech and she was really looking forward to being one of the best pharmacy tech’s in the area, but it just wasn’t meant to be, it seems. The people that she is stuck working with have made her miserable day in and day out and apparently she had had enough and said those famous last words of “Take This Job and Shove It!” Man I wish that I had been there to see their faces when she said that!

So now that she is once again unemployed she is looking at some other options such as Online Trading with an Online Broker and getting started with Mobile Trading, IRA Accounts and Stock Trading. I’m afraid I will not be much help to her with this type of high finance, not something that I have checked into, but I am willing to learn and help her in any way that I can in her newest endeavour. Best of luck to you once again sis!

Where There Is Hope . . .

My brother-in-law seems to be in better spirits these days. The past year hasn’t been the best for my kid sister and he. They both got laid off last year, a double whammy that really hurt them, big time. They were both working for the same Advertising Agency that did a major down sizing that ended up devastating them and their kids.

Anyway, it seems that the market is opening up just a bit and he has two interviews lined up next week with two different Advertising Agency businesses that are doing better in today’s whirlwind economic mess that has been playing havoc on us all. If he can at least get back to work it would help the situation out a whole lot. Where there is hope, right? They have both been working part times jobs here and there, but they have no health insurance on them or the kids right now. The COBRA plans that companies offer employees when they leave the company are just outrageously priced for people that are now out of work, it just doesn’t make any sense.

It may be a while before both of them find an Advertising Agency to work for. I have tried to help them out as much as I can and I understand that other family members have stepped up to the plate as well. I’m glad that a few of the family members are willing and able to lend a hand to others that find themselves in desperate times. I can’t imagine not having a family to turn to, we are lucky in the fact that we still have a fairly large family that are still living pretty close to each other. These days large families are a thing of the past and most families are fanning out all across the world which is just a sign of the times I imagine.

Annoying phone calls

This morning at 8:30 my phone rang and it was a gentleman asking to speak to me from the Democratic Party, and after being up most of the night tossing and turning because of my tooth extraction that took place yesterday, I was not in the mood for conversation, especially from an unsolicited caller.

I wish I new of a way to put my name and number on a Do Not Call list for these politicians, for I would sign up immediately. Don’t call us, we will call you, comes to mind. To think that I will have to put up with this type of nonsense for 5 more months, ugh.
