When my sister announced that she, her husband and their 3 kids were moving all kind of thoughts went through my head, but that was a while back and with the housing market being in such a crisis, the thought of them actually leaving just kind of went and came and life seemed to keep on keeping on. Next thing you know I get an email from her inquiring on the subject of needing boxes to pack all of their belongings into and they are up and moving out west. The San Diego area, Lemon Grove to be exact and the next couple of weeks are going to crazy, chaotic and emotional as well.

They just received an offer on their house and it’s now under control with everything looking good and ready to go by Labor Day. Not the best time to move a family. That is when most schools are just starting or just getting on their way and they have 4 kids that need to re adjust to a new home in a new state and a new school and hopefully making some new friends along the way. They are good kids, very talented, well behaved and very socialized, so they have a lot going for them.

I’ll be there in order to lend a hand in any way that I can with the move. I went online and found a great site to buy moving boxes that I will place an order with tonight after I speak with my sister after work. I need to know if she needs any specialized boxes or just a good variety of the ones that most people use when moving. They have a large variety of moving boxes these days, it is just a matter of knowing what type you need and how many.

I’m all to familiar with issues with folks that have met with unfortunate circumstances taking place that they had not planned for. A good friend of mine just lost her husband, he passed unexpectedly while he was sleeping. If you gotta go that is the way to go, but they had not planned on his untimely passing. He didn’t have any life insurance, nor any funeral arrangements made for this plan that only God knows the details of.

It’s pretty cool that you can go online and find sites like Funeral Agent has in order to take care of all that is needed for funerals and the like. With cremation becoming more popular the cost of a nice funeral can be reduced by a nice chunk of change. They say that the average funeral can run around $6,000. Isn’t that just absurd?

I’m glad that I have taken the time to have my affairs all in order. Since I’m not married and don’t have any children things will be a lot easier in my case. But death never picks a good time to come knocking at your door and one must have things lined up for the people that he leaves behind in this crazy world.

I used to enjoy watching Dr. Drew’s Celebrity Rehab show that aired for a few seasons last year. It was interesting to see how these different levels of celebrities and artists came together and dealt with detox, drug treatment, alcohol treatment and then on down the road the issue of dealing with sobriety. I do believe that it was one of the better Reality Shows that have been being aired these past years. Dr. Drew ran a good quality alcohol treatment center and drug rehab progrem. I believe that it actually opened up a lot of people’s eyes on the rising problem that a lot of us are dealing with in one way or another.

You can go online and see all of the treatment centers that have been opening up and doing a good business in. There is a great variety of these programs located all across the country that are busy helping people that are coping with drug rehab and alcohol rehab issues. The economy has been a tremendous stress factor in so many people’s lives, so drugs and alcohol abuse always increases when the economy is in the toilet. This isn’t addressing the war’s effect on so many of us, with no end in sight.

Halloween is one of my favorite holidays. After the trick and treaters have come and gone, there are some fantastic parties going on all around town. I love seeing all of the ladies dressed up their wild costumes that they work so hard to put together and accentuate with some of the wildest themes in mind.

I haven’t had a party at my place yet on Halloween. There is just so many other ones going on that I can bounce back and forth and all around to that it is much more fun not having to deal with all the work and time involved in putting on a decent Halloween party. I can concentrate on all of the sexy Halloween costumes that I’m surrounded by. Last year I got phone numbers from a gal in a sexy pirate costume and one from a broad dressed up a sexy cop costume. Even went out a few times with the pirate wench, it was a blast.

She actually belongs to a local pirate club that I’ve heard so much about these past couple of years. She was supposed to take me to one of the events, but we’ve backed off in seeing each other, but who knows, it could happen. Stranger things have been known to happen.

Anyway, this heat has got me thinking about the Fall and then of course Winter will soon follow. Autumn will be nice, not excited about Winter and all that goes along with that. Soon enough it will be Thanksgiving, then Christmas and then yet another new year. 2011 is right around the corner. Looking forward to saying goodbye to the year of 2010 – which will be known as the extreme weather year. We jumped from a wicked, blizzard filled horrendous winter right into summer, never even say one day of spring. Don’t know what a 70 degree day feels like.

We were warned that we could expect a few thunder showers yesterday afternoon, but my god what a storm that turned out to be. I had taken a stroll down to the city flea market, it was an extremely hot and humid day, the vendors were all anxious to leave and get out of the heat. All of a sudden the winds kicked up, big time, the sounds of all of the merchandise being blown over and crashing was as loud as the thunder, with papers & posters flying through the air and numerous canvas tents that most of the vendors use for shade were flying about like balloons.

I made it to my car right as the rains came. I felt bad leaving so many of the vendors in such a state, but I asked a few of them if they needed by help, but they all seemed good to go. I’m sure thousands of dollars were lost yesterday in merchandise, props and equipment, not a profitable one for most of them in the end.

Probably my favorite comedy show is an oldie — Gilligans Island. Featuring a relative unknown cast at the time, the adventures of Gilligan, the skipper Jonas Grumby, millionaire Thurston Howell III, Lovey Howell, Professor Roy Hinckley, movie star Ginger Grant and Kansas farm girl Mary Ann Sommers became great TV back in the 1960’s.

Unfortunately the show is now only available on channels through cable tv packages, and not very often at that. It has now created lasting memories for 3 generations of Americans, without the needless sex and violence too often leaned on today by writers of these types of programs.

One of the best episodes involved the arrival on the island of a double for Mr. Howell. He had been heard selling off the stocks on the only communication device the castaways had — a portable radio. After washing up on the shore, nobody could tell the original from the fake. He had all of the mannerisms and birthmarks that even Mrs. Howell couldn’t figure out which one was her real husband. It wasn’t until the professor decide to test that handwriting that the imposter ran away from the others, somehow getting off the island.

This was a classic show and while occasionally silly, had a great interaction among the cast. It was also easy to watch since the characters inspired genuine care among the viewers.
