Pay TV – Who Would Have Thought
TV has certainly changed a whole heck of a lot in the past few decades. I remember as a kid hearing about how pay TV was coming in the future. I remember thinking that there would be a box on top of the TV that you had to put quarters in, much like the money boxes in the motels with the vibrating beds. LOL
These days most people have to pay for the TV and we have so many choices available to us due to it. I have had satellite for some time now and am happy with it and all the specials that they offer me each month. My most enjoyment comes from the sports Dish specials, especially come football season. There is nothing better than being able to watch any football game that you want to see from the comfort of my own home, with a nice cold six pack, plenty of muchies and as many friends that I can entice over to my place to enjoy the action right along with me. To watch any game in person would cost to much money and the crowds would be getting on my last nerve, and all of the traveling and parking issues that would go along with it – way over the top for this guy!
There are a few cable specials that my buddy invites me over to watch over at his place, which isn’t too far away. We try and work it out between us in order to get the best out of both options. It works out well most of the time. Plus it gets me out of the house when I get into my hermit mood every now and then.
Fun Ahead on July 31st
My folks have asked me to come over next weekend and give them a hand around their place. They are planning a big party on July31st and there is a lot to be done in order to have the place ready for the big event. My mother went online and found several fiber glass planters and wants them all ready by the 31st. I’m sure she was eyeballing my aunt’s newest fiber glass planter that she just purchased online and got the idea from her to use the Internet to find her new fiberglass planters. Eplanters.com seems to be the place to find a good fiberglass planter, they offer free shipping and a no hassle return policy, which is always a plus for today’s avid online shoppers.
They have a wonderful house, the house that we all grew up in. They have done a lot around the house and the yard in order to keep it kept up and updated with the times. They don’t often entertain a big crowd, like the one expected in a few short weeks. They have invited over 75 people, but expect to possibly see about 45 and they are finding themselves a bit overwhelmed with the date creeping up so quickly.
I have my work cut out for me, but I don’t mind. Lord knows they have busted their butts for me all my life and it is the least that I can do. Plus I’m coming to the party and look forward to having a good time with my folks and their long time friends, along with several family members.
Give It Up For Our Sun
We have all heard how important it is to have our house number prominently displayed for the emergency personnel who may need to find our home in case of a fire or a medical emergency. Not only do they appreciate it, but the pizza and Chinese delivery people appreciate it as well! We all enjoy our food while it is hot, right?
I was interested to find a site that specializes in address plaques. Not only do they have a great selection of these address signs, but what got my attention were the ones that they are offering that are solar powered. Any way that we can do our part in becoming as “green” as we can is a good and positive thing. I mean how cool is that to have your address plaque brightly lite, and being powered by our own sun.
My folks have been looking for a new address sign and I have sent them the link to this site in hopes that they will be as inspired as I have by there offerings. The site is justaddressplaques.com, and they do have just address plaques, the site is junked up with a bunch of other nonsense junk. Check them out and see, if you have the need or the want.
Safe & Secure
For years my parents thought that their German Shepard was the best type of security system around. He made for good company and made them feel safe in their own home. But these days there is such a drastic increase in home break ins that they are now giving second thoughts about only relying on their guard dog. It has gotten so bad that we are seeing more and more of the signs in people’s yards indicating that they have had an installation of a well known security system. There are more of these types of signs than the For Sale and Foreclosure signs that have been growing by leaps and bounds in people’s front yards.
My parents have gotten very good on using the Internet. They are not the type of senior citizens that are known for shying away from today’s technology. They are embracing it and using to the best of the abilities and I’m so proud of them for being that way. They have even taught several of the senior friends how to use the Internet in many ways. So my mother was looking for tips on how to keep their home and property safe and they have decided to go ahead and have ADT come out and install a good quality security system for them. I’m glad to hear it and I hope that it makes them have more peace of mind so that they can spend their “golden years” having fun in the sun rather than worrying about some creep breaking in and possibly hurting them while trying to steel all of the things that they have worked so hard to get.
My Plumber
The sump pump in the basement is on the blink, I found out the hard way and had quite a mess on my hands to deal with and get cleaned up. My God I don’t know how plumbers deal with that type of mess! I am happy that My Plumber is coming to the rescue first thing tomorrow morning and take over for me. They have always done a good quality job and don’t over charge for their services.
