Black Mold is a nasty issue

I have heard such horror stories about the issues associated with black mold and was surprised to find that I am in need of a service that provides black mold removal.

I was doing some cleaning in my master bath room when I noticed in the closet a nasty stain that wasn’t wanting to come clean and got a better look at it and decided to give my Dad a call for his advise. From the description that I gave him, he told me that he thought it sounded like this nasty black mold that I’ve heard so much about these past years.

Not knowing anyone in this particular business to call on, I decided to turn to the Internet and try to locate a company to come take a look see about the situation, and put my mind at ease.

Good Friends

I have needed some painting done around the house, just a few touch ups are needed and painting just isn’t one of the things that I have ever gotten into. I am pretty handy with most household chores and know my way around the toolbox and all, but any type of painting just isn’t something that I have ever enjoyed doing what so ever.

I approached a good friend about the situation and he has volunteered to come over today and take a look to see what is necessary to get the place back up to speed, then we will take a trip to the local Home Depot, grab a gallon of paint and get busy for the rest of the afternoon and early evening. When all is said and done, we will clean up and head out for a nice dinner and drinks on my tab at our favorite sports bar, in order to show my gratitude for his efforts.

Fall = The raking of the leafs

The one and only tree that I have in my front yard dropped it’s last leaf yesterday, which meant it was time for me to get off my behind and pick up the rake. I could not have asked for a more beautiful though, it actually hit the 70’s and the sun was brilliant!

Now I have to tackle the back yard, but I think I have another week or two before I will have to start in on that much larger task.

Seamless rain gutters only make sense

I have offered to assist my father in his search for good quality seamless rain gutters contractors that will do a good professional job on their house that has needed new rain gutters for some time now. Each year I have approached my folks on the subject due to the fact that each year I find myself on a ladder cleaning their gutters for them, my dad is way too old to be doing such a chore and I find myself, each year, wondering how much longer I will be able to provide such a service to them, heights are generally not an issue with me, but I do not find much enjoyment out of such a task.

The Internet certainly is making the task of locating such a company a whole lot easier than going through the yellow pages and calling around to each and every contractor that has paid for advertising in the local phone books. I have found at Contractorsusa.info some good information that I am going to pass on to my Dad and hope he takes advantage of their Free in home consultation and receive a free quote for us to check into.

Sad to See Them Go

Wednesday, October 29th, 2008 | home improvement, life | No Comments

All this news about the housing market troubles and foreclosures is starting to hit home for us. My neighbors two doors down are having to move out this weekend. I was shocked to see the “For Sale” sign go up in front of their house last week. I don’t know them all that well, but they have been pleasant neighbors - never any trouble. Evidently the wife got hurt on the job over the summer and has been out of work, so the mortgage company is calling the note and kicking them out. You would think the mortgage company would make some effort to help them stay in the house - maybe just stick 6 months of payments on the end of the original term to give them a chance to get back on their feet. But no. This is the kind of corporate greed and short sightedness that makes my blood boil.

I noticed a U-Haul truck in their driveway tonight when I got home. That’s a quick move - the sign just went up last week and they are already loading the moving truck. I hope we get a chance to say good bye tomorrow before they leave.
