Teen Ager’s Bedroom Make Over

My niece has always wanted a nice bedroom that she can have her friends come over and play in and have sleep overs in as well. She is getting to the age where sleeping on the floor is getting on the uncomfortable side. Sleeping bags have been a big help but a nice soft bed is much more appealing at her age, rightfully so.

With this in mind she is using the Internet to look at her options. She has found some wonderful trundle bunk beds that are nice looking, made of quality materials and are affordable that she has placed on her wish list. Her birthday is coming up and then of course there is Christmas coming up sooner than we would like it to. So the family is thinking about pitching in together and seeing if we can manage to purchase one for her that she will like. It shouldn’t be a problem if we all contribute just a bit for the next couple of weeks, so we could feasibly have it ordered, paid for and delivered by her birthday which is right after Labor Day.

Her grandma is now suggesting that for Christmas we could possibly get her some new bed linens for her new trundle bed, which of course will take two sets of linens, not just one. I’m guessing that new curtains, new accent pillows and some throw rugs will be next on the list!

Planning Ahead

I’m all to familiar with issues with folks that have met with unfortunate circumstances taking place that they had not planned for. A good friend of mine just lost her husband, he passed unexpectedly while he was sleeping. If you gotta go that is the way to go, but they had not planned on his untimely passing. He didn’t have any life insurance, nor any funeral arrangements made for this plan that only God knows the details of.

It’s pretty cool that you can go online and find sites like Funeral Agent has in order to take care of all that is needed for funerals and the like. With cremation becoming more popular the cost of a nice funeral can be reduced by a nice chunk of change. They say that the average funeral can run around $6,000. Isn’t that just absurd?

I’m glad that I have taken the time to have my affairs all in order. Since I’m not married and don’t have any children things will be a lot easier in my case. But death never picks a good time to come knocking at your door and one must have things lined up for the people that he leaves behind in this crazy world.

Life = Stress

I used to enjoy watching Dr. Drew’s Celebrity Rehab show that aired for a few seasons last year. It was interesting to see how these different levels of celebrities and artists came together and dealt with detox, drug treatment, alcohol treatment and then on down the road the issue of dealing with sobriety. I do believe that it was one of the better Reality Shows that have been being aired these past years. Dr. Drew ran a good quality alcohol treatment center and drug rehab progrem. I believe that it actually opened up a lot of people’s eyes on the rising problem that a lot of us are dealing with in one way or another.

You can go online and see all of the treatment centers that have been opening up and doing a good business in. There is a great variety of these programs located all across the country that are busy helping people that are coping with drug rehab and alcohol rehab issues. The economy has been a tremendous stress factor in so many people’s lives, so drugs and alcohol abuse always increases when the economy is in the toilet. This isn’t addressing the war’s effect on so many of us, with no end in sight.

Stormy Weather

We were warned that we could expect a few thunder showers yesterday afternoon, but my god what a storm that turned out to be. I had taken a stroll down to the city flea market, it was an extremely hot and humid day, the vendors were all anxious to leave and get out of the heat. All of a sudden the winds kicked up, big time, the sounds of all of the merchandise being blown over and crashing was as loud as the thunder, with papers & posters flying through the air and numerous canvas tents that most of the vendors use for shade were flying about like balloons.

I made it to my car right as the rains came. I felt bad leaving so many of the vendors in such a state, but I asked a few of them if they needed by help, but they all seemed good to go. I’m sure thousands of dollars were lost yesterday in merchandise, props and equipment, not a profitable one for most of them in the end.
