For The Birds
My father is soon going to be celebrating his 70th birthday. He is always one of the hardest people to buy gifts for each year for Christmas, Father’s Day and his birthday. Three times a year I struggle trying to find something that he will enjoy, appreciate and use. He has had 70 years to gather just about everything that he needs or wants, so it makes it a challenge for all of us to get him gifts. But this year I have found something that I think will float his boat.
My parents have always been animal lovers. I grew up in a house that always had numerous animals living inside and out, it was interesting, entertaining and educational for us all. My father really enjoys all the birds that come into the yard and has several bird houses located in various locations throughout the yard. So I thought that cameras for birds would be a neat idea for him so that he could see up close and personal what his feathered friends are up to any time he wants.
I went online and found a great site that has a cool wireless bird camera that he could set up real easy like. This particular bird nest camera is affordable and there is no shipping or handling charges involved, so I’ve placed my order and can’t wait to see his face when he discovers that he will have a new bird house camera that he hopefully can really get into.
Golfing at Myrtle Beach
Myrtle Beach golf packages are very well known for giving you the best bang for your buck. Not only do you get to enjoy all that Myrtle Beach has to offer, but you get to play on some of the best golf courses on the east coast. As a youngster around the age of 8 I was taught the game of golf by my parents. The whole family spent many a day on golf courses all over the east coast and I always enjoyed the Myrtle Beach golf courses the best.
My parents are looking into taking a long weekend sometime after Labor Day and have invited me along and they have asked me to look into finding a good deal on the Internet as well as asking for my input on where we should go. Of course the first place that came into my mind was Myrtle Beach, so I have been focusing on looking online to see what Myrtle Beach has to offer these days. Since it will be after Labor Day, the crowds will not be so bad and the prices will be a bit easier to swallow.
So far http://www.myrtlebeachgolf.net has gotten my vote for the best site for information that we are looking for, so I have forwarded the link to my folks email for them to check and see if it is of interest to them as well. It has been a long time since we have been to Myrtle Beach, I’m sure things have changed a bit and I hope that they do indeed choose Myrtle Beach and that the weather is decent during the time that we are there. Bad weather can screw up the best laid out plans ya know.
The “Check Engine” Light
You gotta love how the Internet can make such takes as finding a decent and reputable auto repair shops. Most folks stay in one place very long these days, you don’t always get a chance to form a long time relationship with many merchants. Word of mouth is still a great form of advertising, the Internet can help if you don’t know anyone.
My youngest sister recently up and moved to Houston, TX and doesn’t know a soul yet. Her Acura Integra is in need of a tune up, the tires rotated and an oil change. She can do some things herself but is limited and she really wants to find a Houston auto repair shop that she can put her faith into and entrust them to make sure her Integra is in the best shape that it can be. Lord knows she is paying a good amount to the bank every month for at least another 3 years.
I sent her a link to repairpal.com, which is an Auto Repair and Maintenance review and rating site that I stumbled on. I keyed in her location and there were several shops that got good reviews. I figured it might be a good starting point for her, it’s user friendly and easy to navigate. She needs to have a place to go to when the “Check Engine” light comes on, it always does at some point.
Home Improvement
ShopWiki has become a useful tool for so many of us lately. It helps find every store online, not just the sites that only show you the stores that have paid for their placement, which opens a lot of doors in many ways for online shoppers. Online shopping is becoming more and more popular for everyday shopping, not just for use around the holiday seasons.
My brother and his wife have been busy with the remodeling of their house for the past several years. They started fixing the place up with the thought of putting it on the market, but since the market has dropped so low they don’t think that they would make any type of profit by selling it and have decided to keep it and keep fixing it up along the way.
The kitchen has had the majority of the work done to it. All new Large Appliances, a new Counter Top and a new floor have made a big difference. My sister-in-law has been doing a lot more cooking since all the work has been completed. They did most of their shopping for all that was needed online and have saved a good chunk of change by using sites like ShopWiki to their advantage. She already has her Christmas list started, the holidays will be coming up soon enough, heck the year is already half way done with. She has her eyes on many Other Assorted Kitchen guides that she plans on utilizing in her new kitchen and is planning on holding the family Christmas dinner at their place if things keep progressing nicely and in a timely fashion as they have been so far. I’m glad that things are working out for them and wish them luck in getting things all done in time for the holidays.
Numbers
I find it pretty amazing that you can now use the Internet 24/7 for tutoring needs in just about every subject that is out there these days. My niece needs some help with her Algebra 1 class and has found a great website of tutorvista.com. She tells me that you can get monthly tutoring services for under $100 a month through them and that she is very happy with what they have been providing her with since she signed up with them.
Next year she will be dealing with Algebra 2 issues and will most likely be turning to them for Algebra 2 help as well. She has turned a lot of her friends and class mates. They provide you with a free demo for the first time users and that has been a good selling point for many to take advantage of.
I remember back in the day, when I used to be able to assist her with some of her class work, but I’m afraid that Algebra just isn’t something that I’m all that up to speed in these days, so I’m glad to see that she has found help online!
