Spring is coming
When you start to realize that spring is just around the corner, for some reason it seems to be the time you start looking around the house and realizing that the house needs to be spiffed up just a little. The outside is getting ready to burst with beauty and your home looks like old man winter has whooped its rear end. I guess it comes from having a mother that always had to change something in the house before spring made our house look ‘tired’ as she would put it. She usually went out and bought new artificial flowers but that’s not my thing.
I think my house needs some new window blinds. You know how old and dingy they get after a couple of years and they’re an inexpensive way to really add a new ‘touch’ to the same old room. No need to spend a fortune either if you know the right place to shop for them. I even like window shades for some of my rooms like the bathroom for some odd reason. I don’t know why I want shades in there but maybe it’s because they seem to me like you have more privacy with them but that’s my opinion about it anyway. No one wants anyone to be able to see into their bathroom, now do they?
There are all sorts of window coverings available now from blinds, shades and those pleated shades which I really like. The wide array of colors are just about guaranteed to add that special touch to an otherwise ordinary room. You can color coordinate your blinds or shades to match your couch, bed covering, curtains or what ever you are wanting to accentuate. Luckily as a man, I had a mother that had a good eye for decorating and I guess I got a touch of that from her. Or at least, I like to think that’s where it comes from.
Random thoughts for the day
1. I think part of a best friend’s job should be to immediately clear your computer history if you die.
2. Nothing sucks more than that moment during an argument when you realize you’re wrong.
3. I totally take back all those times I didn’t want to nap when I was younger.
4. There is great need for a sarcasm font.
5. How the heck are you supposed to fold a fitted sheet?
6. Was learning cursive really necessary?
7. Map Quest really needs to start their directions on #5. I’m pretty sure I know how to get out of my neighborhood.
8. Obituaries would be a lot more interesting if they told you how the person died.
9. I can’t remember the last time I wasn’t at least kind of tired.
10. Bad decisions make good stories.
11. You never know when it will strike, but there comes a moment at work when you know that you just aren’t going to do anything productive for the rest of the day.
12. Can we all just agree to ignore whatever comes after Blue Ray? I don’t want to have to restart my collection…again.
13. I’m always still slightly terrified when I exit out of Word and it asks me if I want to save any changes – to my ten-page research paper that I swear I did not make any changes to.
14. “Do not machine wash or tumble dry” means I will never wash this thing I have– ever.
15. I hate when I just miss a call by the last ring (Hello? Hello? Damn it!), but when I immediately call back, it rings nine times and goes to voicemail. What’d you do after I didn’t answer? Drop the phone and run away?
16. I hate leaving my house confident and looking good and then not seeing anyone of importance the entire day. What a waste.
17. I keep some people’s phone numbers in my phone just so I know not to answer when they call.
18. My 4-year old son asked me in the car the other day “What would happen if you ran over a ninja?” How the heck do I respond to that?
19. I think the freezer deserves a light as well.
20. I disagree with Kay Jewelers. I would bet, on any given Friday or Saturday night, more kisses begin with Bud Light than with a Kay jewelry product.
Back East
The first major event in our family in the new year of 2010 is the relocating of my younger brother, the baby of the family is coming back home. He gave the west coast one heck of a try, but his luck just didn’t hold out long enough to keep him on the other side of the country any longer. He lost his job, his wife, his kid and last but not least by any means he has lost his condo that he worked so hard to live in while the going was good.
He is looking online into some Los Angeles Local Movers to load him and his stuff up and make the long drive back east to NYC once again. He is recently divorced so he doesn’t have a whole heck of a lot of stuff anymore, but what he has needs to be entrusted to a reliable moving company that won’t cost him an arm or a leg. Our cousin all ready referred him to a company that she used by calling 1-800-431-3920 as toll free number where clients that are moving in Los Angeles can get a free moving quote. Word of mouth still can be the best type of advertising in these high tech days. But what ever he comes up with will be his choice and his decision, he is about the hardest headed guy I’ve ever known in my life time I can tell you that!
Quality Planters Online
Things are finally getting back to “normal” with the holidays finally behind us, once and for all and it’s back to reality. It’s getting colder and colder with each of these very first days of the new year of 2010. Below freezing temperatures with snow and ice still readily abundant from the storm we got right before Christmas! And now we are to expect another snow storm later this week…..something to look forward to, sigh…..
I really am anxious for spring to get here, I’ve never been much of fan of winter weather although I do enjoy going skiing a few times each year. This will be a busy spring for me this year. My folks purchased numerous Garden Planters and Window Box Planters that they will need help preparing for and then the actual installing about the place. They picked up some nice High End Planters online. They used Planterixchange.com and found some of the nicest Decorative Planters that they have gone crazy over. I don’t mind helping a bit, I’m grateful that they are still in good health and active around the house and the yard with all their gardens that they are so proud of each year.
Planterixchange.com has a great selection of Indoor Planters and Outdoor Planters that I would encourage anyone to check out. Basically any type of Planter that you could possibly want or need for residential or commercial use.
Today’s Internet Offerings
The computer certainly wasn’t an everyday tool for us back when I was in high school or in my college days. The ones that we used were pretty limited and it just amazes me how far we have advanced and how having Internet access is taken so for granted by so many of us. People can go through with-drawls if not hooked up to Net each day, just as badly as if needing a smoke can be for someone that has that monkey on their back.
I can tell you that if I had the help of the Internet back then I would have taken advantage of any type of online tutoring, which has become a very useful tool for many students. To be able to go online and find math problems along with the math answers is a wonderful asset for today’s students. There is help out there for students from K-12 and for college students as well. Online math tutoring would have saved my butt many a times. There is Precalculus help, statistics help, chemistry help along with numerous other subjects to be utilized at sites like Tutornext.com.
My niece is one smart cookie and has turned to me at times for homework help. Most of the time I can lend a hand but the older she gets, the harder the work is and I’ve had to beg off more times than I would have liked. So I’m glad to know that she can go online and find reliable assistance in order to have her assignments turned in on time and with a good grade to go along with it for her efforts. This young lady will go far in her life time, she is going to make a difference in this world and I couldn’t be prouder of her for it.
