Family Festivities Moved Outside

We really couldn’t have asked for better weather on Thanksgiving day this year, 69 degrees is generally unheard of for this type of year. It was so nice out that at the last minute we decided to move all the festivities, including the massive dinner, outside. My folks have a great set up for events such as this, with a great porch, lined with their numerous gorgeous Adirondack chairs and Picnic Tables that they can utilize and enjoy all most all year round.

The kids played all most the entire time on the playground equipment that they always keep in top notch condition for the dozens of grandchildren, grandnephews and grandnieces that are always so appreciative of them providing for their entertainment when visiting. While the parents, or who ever else is in charge of supervising this crowd of youngsters can sit on various Park Benches that they have had strategically installed throughout the entire yard for people’s comfort.

Each year we seem to be having more kids attend these family dinners, so all of my parent’s work in making their place very family/kid friendly pays off time and time again. They really enjoy the little ones and they want to make sure that they are kept busy and kept safe during their visits.

Traveling Nurses

I had the pleasure of meeting a nice young lady this week who has really got me interested in getting to know much better. She is a traveling nurse, but tries to stay as local as possible, with out having to go out of state much for her travel nurse jobs.

I’ve called her and left a message, inviting her over for dinner and a movie tomorrow, wasn’t surprised to get her voice mail, since she is most likely working. She has been a nurse, in a private practice for many years and decided to see more of the world and went to work in the travel nursing field, working for one of the few travel nursing agencies, just last year and seems to really love it.

She is full of energy, this one is, I can certainly see why she wouldn’t be happy stuck in an office all day, this type of work seems to fit her personality and lifestyle much better. I tell you what, if I was ever in the need of a personal nurse, she would be at the top of the list to call, and I hope that I hear from her soon. Maybe I can talk her into dinner and a movie when she is available and not traveling around trying to take care of everyone.

Custom Visa Gift Cards

Did you know that at GiftcardLab.com you can purchase quite a variety of gift cards and I would urge you to check them out and see if you could use their services for some of your holiday shopping needs.

At this great gift card site you can download art, graphics or photos to assist you with designing your own personalized gift card, I really like this idea. I’m sending my folks the link to this interesting and useful site, I’m sure that they will have a blast with this feature, they tend to send gift cards galore during the Christmas season and will have fun with this on their home PC, which they spend so much time on these days.

The Game of Spades

It appears that a good amount of our US soldiers that are away from their friends and family over in Iraq are spending some of their free and down time playing the card game of Spades online. I think that this is a wonderful opportunity for our soldiers to be taking advantage of, busy hands are happy hands, as they say. At Spadester.com they can play with individuals, cutthroat and partners at their convenience, make new friends from all over the world and chat with a variety of folks as well. Spades is a good social card game and has always been a good game of cards for people to enjoy.

I’m sure that the Internet is providing our soldiers many ways to spend their time. It isn’t always convenient to find people to play card games such as Spades, while serving our country, so I’m glad that playing online has become an avenue for them to participate in recreational activities such as this.

I haven’t played Spades in a long time, it might be a good idea to get a few folks together in the future and brush up on the game and then see about playing online myself at some point.

Thanksgiving

The Author of this post is Herman Barry

I love Thanksgiving time and my family does, too. My kids get really into it and we always do all kinds of crafts like making the hand turkeys and stringing things along the side of the house and generally just have a great time! We always all end up watching the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade on our http://www.direc4u.com/ channels and then the men of course pass out with football blaring as soon as we eat. I think my favorite part of the day is cooking with my mom and grandmom, though, since we don’t get to spend all that much time together and the time we do have is really precious to me. There’s nothing like baking biscuits and watching the turkey cook all day long and just getting to laugh and catch up on the last few months with family. I’m really blessed because I have such a wonderfully supportive family but you know, at the end of the day I think I’m going to have to say my kids are what makes it.
