The Powerful Voice of The Consumer

With the economy still in such a pickle, it is so important to keep up with so many things that are important to any company that is still trying to earn money. The best way to find out what you customers want and need from your company and what it takes to keep them coming back for more. The voice of the consumer is a very powerful voice and one that needs to be heard and it seems that many more businesses are starting to listen.

I would love to become a Mystery Shopper because I know what is supposed to be done and so many businesses fall short of what it takes to keep a satisfied customer coming back. I have a few friends that have been Mystery Shopper’s and they tell me how busy it is keeping them and I’m afraid that I don’t have all that much free time right now.

I would also enjoy being involved in some type of focus group which would not take up so much time. I’m thinking of looking online and seeing what I can find in this area with any focus groups.

Nothing Ventured, Nothing Gained

Thought there for a moment I had found the perfect companion, of the 4 legged variety, at the ASPCA earlier today. I find that I have been stopping in there once or twice a month, in hopes of finding the perfect canine to bring home and welcome into the family. And not being in hurry has been nice, I can afford to be picky, I just know that I want to adopt one rather than purchase one, I don’t want to support the puppy mills that are doing such good business these days.

So on my home this afternoon, I took the route that goes right by the City Pound and decided to stop in, as it has been a few weeks since I’d been there last. The folks that work there and run the place have gotten to know me now on a first name basis and have found them to be a good group of people, doing a job that I sure wouldn’t want to have to do for any length of time. I know my way around the place pretty well by now and basically just walk in and stroll my way through the door that leads to Dog room and take a look see.

Today the place was at full occupancy, so it was pretty loud back there with all of the excitement of a new visitor coming in, and the smell about knocks me over each and every time I enter those doors. About 1/2 down the corridor I see a real nice looking Basset Hound staring up at me with those incredible looking sad eyes and I fell in love instantly, and knew that I had found the perfect dog.

The bad news being that this little guy is there at the City Pound under a court ordered quarantine and will be going back to his own home and owner soon, making him one of the few animals that are housed there that are not adoptable, go figure! Oh well, nothing ventured, nothing gained.

Still at it!

I can’t believe all the time I’ve been spending among family of late. What with my little sister being around and pregnant, any and all holidays being a family excuse to throw a party, and the number of favors being asked of me, I just can’t find the time to get back to some of my more personal comforts. Maybe a couple of the girls wouldn’t mind giving me a hand with some of this online research I’ve been roped into taking part in. Not that I really mind all that much, but it would be nice to have a little loving relaxation while I’m at it, just the same.

Debit cards at gas stations

My sister told me a few months ago that when she went to the gas station, put $50 in the tank and used her debit card, right at the pump, that found that the gas station had placed an additional $50 hold on her debit card. She found that out as she came home and immediately went online to check on her balance of her recently used debit card and was totally freaked out about seeing two $50 charges on her limited account.

Just a few weeks ago, I heard on the local news, a story about gas stations getting away with placing holds on debit card purchases that are used right at the pump, just as my sister had done and had complained about. I have to tell you that I was surprised to hear the story and damned if the same thing didn’t just happen to me yesterday. I’m glad to say that I was only charged a one dollar hold, but money is money and this whole thing is outrageous.

The good news is that since the story hit the NBC news channel, it is said that they (who ever they are) are working on a way to resolve this issue and make this practice an illegal practice, and now more people are aware of the situation and can be prepared to deal with the additional charge that can be and is unknowingly placed on their account, and can stay there for many days from what I understand.

What a rip off, consumers beware!

New neighborhood

Contribution by Kennith Griffin

We recently bought a house in a neighborhood not far from our previous home. I really like our new house. It is a lot bigger than our previous house, which we definitely need because we were outgrowing our house very quickly. We just had our third child and our other two children are under three years old. If we had stayed in our other home, our kids would have to share a room and I do not think they would ever go to sleep at night. All three of our kids will now have their own rooms. We also have a large kitchen with an island in the middle. I have always wanted a large kitchen with an island. As I was leaving the house yesterday, I noticed that several of our neighbors have adt signs in their yards. The crime rate in our area is not high, but it made me think that we probably need to look into getting a home security system. Because we have three small children, a home security system would make me feel safer when I am at home alone with them.
