Dress Up Games

My 9 year old niece that I have spoken about in the past, has sent me a reply to my last email to her, and she is full of news about all of the things that she is doing and planning on doing this summer while school is out. She is scheduled to attend a cheer leading camp, in the middle of July and then to go to a sleep away camp in the first week of August.

She has a few friends that she has been going to the local pool with and her folks are planning a beach get-a-way long weekend this up and coming 4th of July holiday. So she seems to be keeping busy, it is a drag for some kids that have nothing to do all summer, that is when trouble can start brewing. Busy hands are happy hands, as my mother always says, and there is a lot of truth to that.

One thing that my niece is very good at is the computer, her folks had her up and running on her own PC at the age of two years old and she knows what she is doing when it comes to email, the Internet, several different programs, and she has tons of software full of games and educational ones also that she enjoys.

In her email she was telling me of one of her favorite web-sites that she and her girlfriends just discovered a few weeks ago which is all about GirlSense Fashion Dress Up Games at a site called GirlSense.com. She tells me that it allows her and her friends to go into different boutiques and purchase virtual fashion items of fashion designers and celebrities like MTV’s The Hills, Savy and Mandy, Mudd and numerous others, that I have to tell you I have no idea who most of these are, but she seems thrilled with them.

I have to say that web-sites like these are really a good thing for these girls, it teaches them so many things that will help them later on in life. And I like that there is more and more things coming out for little girls, most video games really are not geared towards them and there has been a push for more girl oriented games to be available to them and it looks like it is working to some degree.

Posting Resumes Online

When I’m looking for employment I know that I get very tired of registering for the dozens of job-search services, having to spend hours filling in their forms, over and over again, repeating the same stuff. I wish that we could just copy and paste it when we post your resume online! Bust most of them won’t allow that, so we have to print off a copy of our resumes and piece-meal it in. So if you get a chance you should check out what sideskills.com and see what they can do for you, I’ve heard good things about them from several folks that are job hunting.

I think and feel like it is a huge waste of time for many of these places because even though they promise they will give us “job opportunities” within an hour’s drive (or what ever length of time you put it) of where we live, after spend hing ours filling in their forms – sometimes the best they can give us these days is working at 7-11 midnight shifts. Very aggravating! What a waste of a perfectly good college degree. There just doesn’t seem to be a light at the end of this very long dark tunnel that our government has placed us in these past few years.

Junky Basement

I have been spending a bit of time down in my basement. It is in desperate need of a reorganization and a good cleaning. I really haven’t much to do with the basement, it has always been used for storage and now that I see that most of the stuff can be given away and what doesn’t get thrown away will go towards a yard sale, some time in September when it isn’t so hot outside, which makes a big difference in my attitude during a long day of dealing with the general public.

It is amazing how much junk people can accumulate, and to think that so many folks are paying a monthly storage fee in order to hold on to all. I can’t imagine paying some one to provide me with a place to store my junk, those monthly bills add it to a good amount of money and most of the stuff that is being stored isn’t worth it, in most cases anyway.

Nagging Toothache

I have been having some trouble lately with a back tooth that has been giving me a good deal of grief as of late. I was hoping that it would just go away, sometimes a toothache has been known to go away without any type of treatment done to it. But this one doesn’t seem to want to ease up one bit.

It was hurting so bad this morning that I actually called the dentist that I haven’t seen in some time, and scheduled an appointment for tomorrow at 3:30pm. I was told that since I had not been there in some time that I should plan on arriving a bit early and to be prepared to fill out all new paperwork on myself.

I don’t know which one I’m dreading worse, the dentist or the paperwork.

Movie Theaters Suck!

Contribution by Michale Greer

I love my Direct TV Movie Channels. It is so great that I don’t even have to leave my house anymore to see all the movies I want. I have never been the type that enjoys movie theaters. People are always loud and annoying, and it’s the worst when they bring their kids and let them hoot and holler the entire length of the movie. I decided a few years back that seeing a movie in the theater was totally not worth the money. I would much rather save my moneyand wait until the movie was released for home viewing so that I don’t have to deal with all of the craziness and kids in a movie theater. I started to spend the money I would have otherwise spent on going to the theater on movie channels, and I have been so much happier. I also rent movies on demand, which is so much easier than going to the video store or mailing them back to the online services. It’s so nice to have everything I need at my fingertips.
