I have the sad news to tell about a good friend that has just been diagnosed with mesothelioma, which is a type of cancer that is taking more and more lives with each passing day. It has only been the last couple of years that the general public has heard much about this type of disease. I have found an interesting website that I have been frequenting since his mesothelioma prognosis and have passed the link to him, survivingmesothelioma.com,  in an effort to help him and his family learn more about peritoneal mesothelioma.

This site offers a patients guide to surviving mesothelioma, it is well written and they are supplying newly diagnosed mesothelioma patients with a free copy with just a click of the mouse at their site. The more one knows with what they are dealing with the better and I’m hoping that this may help him in his time of need.

My latest read is a novel by Faye Kellerman entitled “Straight Into Darkness. A mystery based on a 1920s Munich, a war wounded city rocked by political agitation and stalked by a nameless, barbaric butcher.

The Middle Heart, a Novel

Stopped by the used book store again today and picked up The Middle Heart, a novel by Bette Bao Lord. The Middle Heart is her second novel, the first being Spring Moon back in 1981. This novel is set in 1932 when China is beset by domestic weakness and foreign assaults. The story of three young people and their destiny over the years of World War II and the Communist revolution.

Cheap Books

do the majority of my grocery shopping at our local Food Lion, they seem to have the cheapest prices for the items that I buy regularly. There is a few things that I can’t seem to get Food Lion to carry for me, so once in a while I will need to make a side trip to either Martins (owned by Giant and very expensive) or go to Wal-Mart, ugh, I’m not a big Wal-Mart fan and dread having to go there.I have seen for the past month or so that Food Lion has a huge bin over flowing with brand new books at a discounted price and as much as I love to read, it takes a huge discount for me to purchase any book. I get most of my reading material from places that give them away or go to the used book store to find my bargains. The price of a brand new book is totally outrageous, I can’t even remember the last time I bought a book at full retail price.

But back to Food Lion’s book offering, today I had to make a mid week grocery run and I noticed that the book bin was almost empty, and they had a sign stating that the remaining books were being sold for 75% off of the already discounted price. With that being said, I stopped and took a look to see what was left over and was glad to find two new hard covered books that needed to come home with me and only paid $1.50 for each one, and I’m pleased with my purchase and will go back again on Friday and take another look see.

Soon after the NBC show hit the airwaves in 1982, we heard that he started serving 5,000 people a day.

Doyle used the bar’s fame to raise hundreds of thousands of dollars for charity and is knows as the most giving person that you would ever want to meet and that he’s not bitter about the situation and that he now may write a book about his experiences.
