Bedroom World, Selection, Service & Value

Funny how we become attached to certain material objects, such is the case in my home with my current bed and bedroom furniture. I know that it is plenty old and could use some work and most definitely a new mattress is long overdue, but I can’t seem to entertain the thought of replacing it and the other furniture in the room either. My grandfather passed down this wonderful antique bedroom set to me, a gift that I cherish dearly, it is all that I have left of him since his passing so many years ago.

Beds, I do believe, are a very personal thing, I’ve had many people tell me that I am in need of an updated version through out the years, but I’m not in any hurry to take the time to look around for a decent replacement, although using the Internet would certainly make the search an easier one.

I’ve seen a few nice looking sets here and there and even found a website that has a great selection of Wooden Beds at Bedroomworld.co.uk, a nice Wooden Bed would be the only way to go for my taste. I’ve placed a picture of one that I found there that I thought was pretty cool looking. Their Toronto Low Foot End Bed Frame which is a simple design that would look great in a more contemporary bedroom than I currently have, a nice look to be sure.

The Subject of Trophies

I remember back when I was a young boy and baseball was the sport of choice for many of us in the neighborhood. We lived and breathed baseball all year round at home, school and at the local YMCA. Of course Little League Baseball was a big to do back then and I spent many baseball seasons playing on numerous teams, with the dreams of having many Baseball Trophies lined up on the mantle for all to see. I did manage to bring home a few trophies, they are still on the mantle back home at the folks place, to this day.  There are a few Softball Trophies and Basketball Trophies, along side of them, from my sister who played a few seasons of  various sports, in her time as well. I get a kick out of seeing them there each time I visit and am pleased that my folks have kept them there on display for all this time.

Trophies have always had a positive  impact on people, even in today’s corporate world these types of corporate awards are treasured memento’s of one’s hard work and achievements that we are so very proud to display on shelves, mantles and book cases a plenty. Everyone should receive a trophy or some type of award at least once in their lifetime!

At some point these treasured trophies will end up on my fireplace mantle, and my sister’s as well, when the parents are no longer with us. They will be displayed with pride, and I’ll keep them well dusted, I can’t vouch for my sister though.

Man in the Mirror

Poking around in the closet I came across an interesting find. There was a framed poem about the “Man in the Mirror.” The poem was written in a stylized lettering and layered over a silhouette of a boy’s face. The poem speaks to the pride one must have in one’s own actions, as you have to face the man in the mirror every day.

Fall Alert

My parents are concerned with the health and well being of my great Aunt Beryl, who is in her 90′s and still living on her own. Although there are a good amount of family members that all live fairly near and close by, she is still by herself for the majority of the time, she prefers it that way, and My great Aunt Beryl usually gets what she wants. My parents are now trying to convince her to allow them to purchase the newest technology in GPS tracking and Fall Alerts that are on the market for senior citizens to use in case of a fall or a medical emergency.

A fall could lead to disaster to someone her age, a broken hip or rib could lead to so many other complications that could quickly become a crisis. Brickhouse Alert is offering these exciting products and have a website designed to assist people on which Alert product would best suit individual needs and requirements. It is an interesting site to educate oneself on these important and very useful medical alarm, GPS tracking and fall products that could make the difference between life and death for so many older, disabled and disadvantaged people in our lives at one point or another.
