The Wholesale Game

The variety of Wholesale Suppliers that are available for folks to purchase from these days. I have several friends that purchase Wholesale Products online and then take them to the various local flea market on the weekends. Some do well and some don’t, it seems that it is a major guessing game as to what products are going to be a hit each time you load up and do a market. What was hot and moving quickly last week, might not be worth a second glance the following week, hit or miss as they say. Different markets target different types of merchandise and clientele as well.

I took a gander at a few sites earlier today that target Wholesalers, there is a lot to take in. I wouldn’t want to have to make the decision on what to buy in order to make a buck or two, but there are plenty folks out there that are trying their darnedest to survive in these horrific economic times that are government has gotten us into. It’s all about the money and it takes money to make money, right.

Come spring I’m heading out to a few of the local flea markets, I enjoy going to some of them through out the year. Some more than others. I try and stay away from ones that are full of baby products and clothes and Beanie Babies. There are good people to be found going on there folks, like I said I know many vendors that are trying to make a living doing this laborious task, week after week, month after month, year after year, rain or shine, heck it can be snowing and you would find at least a handful of people showing up looking for the “Bargain of The Day”

Stormy Weather

We were warned that we could expect a few thunder showers yesterday afternoon, but my god what a storm that turned out to be. I had taken a stroll down to the city flea market, it was an extremely hot and humid day, the vendors were all anxious to leave and get out of the heat. All of a sudden the winds kicked up, big time, the sounds of all of the merchandise being blown over and crashing was as loud as the thunder, with papers & posters flying through the air and numerous canvas tents that most of the vendors use for shade were flying about like balloons.

I made it to my car right as the rains came. I felt bad leaving so many of the vendors in such a state, but I asked a few of them if they needed by help, but they all seemed good to go. I’m sure thousands of dollars were lost yesterday in merchandise, props and equipment, not a profitable one for most of them in the end.

High School Reunion

I just got an email informing me that we are scheduled for yet another high school reunion come August. I have been to several of these functions and really don’t look forward to attending another. If it wasn’t for a very good friend that I went to school with, who just pesters the hell out of me to go with him so that he doesn’t have to sit by himself all night long, I wouldn’t have attended any of them at all. Some things should just remain in the past and let go of………

No Dogs Please

I went to the down town flea market yesterday and had a nice look see around the place before the heat got too intense. Didn’t find any treasures that I couldn’t live without but I did enjoy meeting and talking with a few interesting vendors that were there for the day.

It never seems to amaze me how so many people bring their dogs to this market. It just doesn’t make sense. It is an outside market, on a black top parking lot of an elementary school. These poor dogs are walking on this extremely hot surface while their idiot owners are looking around not even seeing how their dogs are burning their paws. It was in the high 90′s yesterday, so you know that the parking lot was burning hot.

People leave the dogs at home, have a heart!
