Numbers

I find it pretty amazing that you can now use the Internet 24/7 for tutoring needs in just about every subject that is out there these days. My niece needs some help with her Algebra 1 class and has found a great website of tutorvista.com. She tells me that you can get monthly tutoring services for under $100 a month through them and that she is very happy with what they have been providing her with since she signed up with them.

Next year she will be dealing with Algebra 2 issues and will most likely be turning to them for Algebra 2 help as well. She has turned a lot of her friends and class mates. They provide you with a free demo for the first time users and that has been a good selling point for many to take advantage of.

I remember back in the day, when I used to be able to assist her with some of her class work, but I’m afraid that Algebra just isn’t something that I’m all that up to speed in these days, so I’m glad to see that she has found help online!

Moving Issues

It was a long hot week for a good friend of mine. He lost his house due to the economy and had to vacate the property in 30 days. Being a good friend and also owning a pick up truck I spent a few days this past week helping him out. Man did he have a lot of stuff that needed to be packed and moved into storage. But we got the job done and he is moving on. Best of luck to you my friend!

Awesome Photo

I heard from my niece yesterday. She sent me a nice email filling me in on the status on her attempt to get her parents to consent to allow her to start wearing contact lenses. She really has her heart set on this and I hope that she can get her folks to agree and soon, poor thing can’t seem to think of anything else and really needs to move on.

She usually sends me some pretty awesome pictures or videos with her emails. This picture was included in yesterday’s email. Pretty awesome, if you ask me.

A Supportive Uncle – That Would Be Me

My niece and I spent some time together last week. She is a good kid and I like spending as much time with her as I can and I’ve enjoyed watching her grow into the lovely young lady that she has turned out to be. Right now she is battling it out with her parents about getting contact lenses. She has been wearing glasses since she was 7 and she is tired of wearing them day in and day out. Now that she is 14 she thinks that she is ready for all that it entails to wear contact lenses. Several of her friends are wearing them and peer pressure can be a hard thing to deal with these days. They are always in such a hurry to grow up.

I was with her when she picked out her first pair of eye glasses. Her parents were both unable to take off from work so I volunteered to take her to pick up her prescription and take her next door to pick out her new lens and frames. She did a great job, stayed within a reasonable price range and came out looking like the princess that she was (and still is in my eyes) the glasses were pink and very girlie like!

Anyway, if she can convince her folks to let her give the contacts a try I’ll do my best to support their decision and who knows, maybe I’ll be the one to take her to get her first fitting. After that I’m sure that they will be purchasing the replacements online where you can get great deals on all types of eye wear.

Wrestling Women

I didn’t have a lot to do until my dinner date last night which was with a school teacher from one of the local grade schools, pretty lady that likes to read the same type of novels as myself, we actually met in the library of all places. But I digress. As I was saying, there wasn’t much to do so I sat down, opened a beer and started flipping through the channels when I came upon TNA Wrestling. There was this one big gal they called “Awesome Kong”, and she looked it too, but the match she had with some alleged “pro-wrestler” was hilarious to watch as this huge woman warrior type tossed this poor other gal all over the place, throwing her through the air and the whole nine yards. What got me was that I just couldn’t stop laughing about it, it was the funniest thing I’d seen in a long time. A good laugh can go a long way these days.
