World Class Web Hosting

Little brother Willie (the computer whiz of the family) came over last night. We ordered Take Out Chinese, drank some beer, smoked a couple of cigars and had a nice relaxed evening. Willie and I have always gotten along well, and he has stayed in the area, close to the folks, much like myself. The other siblings have managed to move out of state and we don’t get to see them often enough, as Willie and I do.

He spent a good amount of time educating me on some of the computer tricks and tips that he has been picking up and bragging about all of his new computer, equipment and accessories that he just got for Christmas a few months back. He was asked by our parents to check into web hosting issues for their small business that my parents have been running for the past 10 years. He didn’t take long in finding a company (Superb Internet) that has been around since 1996 and has dedicated server hosting services that he thinks would be a good fit for them. They have colocation services, managed hosting solutions, Domains and everything that would benefit a small or medium sized business, such as my parents small packing and mail store.

I heard on the radio, on the way to work today, that YouTube is celebrating their 5th year anniversary. Hard to believe that YouTube.com has only been around for 5 years. YouTube has become a big part of my life these past years and I’m grateful that it managed to become such a fantastic resource for music and video’s.

On the radio they were talking about the worst YouTube video ever. I decided to Google “Worst YouTube Video and this one popped up. I must say that it isn’t the best video ever, but certainly not the worst. Makes me wonder……

School Days

The one subject in school that I really didn’t like and never ended up doing all that well with was Math. I’m just not a numbers kind of person and am lost without my calculator in my every day needs. I rather enjoyed History and Science and would love to go back to school at some point and learn more, now that I am old enough to appreciate what knowledge can does do for a person.

The last time I got a flier from the local community college in the mail I remember giving it a second glance before tossing it into the recycling bin with the rest of the junk mail that I get on a daily basis. It did have some interesting History related classes that I’ve been thinking about checking into. Guess I can find all I need on the Internet instead of waiting for their next mailing.

It probably wouldn’t hurt to take some type of Math classes as well after I get my feet wet in going back to school. Statistics problems have always been a challenge and I know that I can get Statistics help and even a Statistics tutor online a tutorvista.com. My niece used Tutor Vista all last year for several of her college courses and was real pleased with all that they offered her, word of mouth is still the way to go!

 

 

The City Will Nickle and Dime You Any Way That They Can

I have gotten to the point where I pay most of my bills online (at no charge) these days. It is a time saver and it saves the cost of envelopes and postage. It is too bad that all of my bills aren’t set up for online payments. The city that I live in allows it’s citizens to pay their taxes and their water and sewer bills online with a credit or debit card, but it charges a percentage which is a rip off and I won’t have anything to do with it. Leave it to our government to want to nickle and dime you to death.

Golf & Fishing

I come from a family that has always enjoyed a good game of golf. Golf has always been a good way for the whole family to spend good quality time together. It’s  something that gets us up off of our butts and gives us some exercise along with a few laughs throughout the day from time to time. We have met a lot of great people on the courses that we have played on that we have become good friends with and we all enjoy getting together with a good amount of them throughout the years.

I’ve heard that there are plans being made out there for some of us to get together some time in the early fall to stay at one of the Myrtle Beach Accommodations that have great golf packages at some pretty awesome courses that they are so well known for. The Prince Resort has a good reputation and is located right on the water, I like that. There are so many Myrtle Beach Resorts these days, the Internet will most definitely be helpful in finding the right Myrtle Beach Accomodations that will have all the things that we are looking for.

I’m hoping that which ever Myrtle Beach Resort that is decided on is in the North Myrtle Beach are. The Prince Resort is located in that part which is so serene and right on the ocean.  I’ve always like the north side best and try to find my accommodations there when ever I go to Myrtle Beach. Some good memories from that place.

I’m curious as to who all will be attending this event. People’s lives are pretty screwed up right now due to the economy. But with a little bit of planning we just might have a good turn out. I’m looking forward to it. Now if I could get some fishing in as well I’d be in heaven!
