Today’s Internet Offerings

Monday, December 21st, 2009 | business, education, family, internet/computers, life, technology | No Comments

The computer certainly wasn’t an everyday tool for us back when I was in high school or in my college days. The ones that we used were pretty limited and it just amazes me how far we have advanced and how having Internet access is taken so for granted by so many of us. People can go through with-drawls if not hooked up to Net each day, just as badly as if needing a smoke can be for someone that has that monkey on their back.

I can tell you that if I had the help of the Internet back then I would have taken advantage of any type of online tutoring, which has become a very useful tool for many students. To be able to go online and find math problems along with the math answers is a wonderful asset for today’s students. There is help out there for students from K-12 and for college students as well. Online math tutoring would have saved my butt many a times. There is Precalculus help, statistics help, chemistry help along with numerous other subjects to be utilized at sites like Tutornext.com.

My niece is one smart cookie and has turned to me at times for homework help. Most of the time I can lend a hand but the older she gets, the harder the work is and I’ve had to beg off more times than I would have liked. So I’m glad to know that she can go online and find reliable assistance in order to have her assignments turned in on time and with a good grade to go along with it for her efforts. This young lady will go far in her life time, she is going to make a difference in this world and I couldn’t be prouder of her for it.

Gene Simmons, God Bless America

Gene Simmons just keeps on trucking these days. His show “Family Jewels” on the A & E channel always cracks me up. His girl friend is one good looking lady, sweet eye candy. I saw this video on his show last year and enoyed it and was glad to find it on You Tube.

Myrtle Beach and Their Golf Packages

Here it is the middle of December, it’s in the 30’s and I’m thinking of summer plans. It is actually a good time to start looking for deals that are out there, there are some good offers to take advantage of, especially if you have Internet access. I’m thinking that one of the Myrtle Beach Golf Packages that I’ve heard so much about might be a good thing to check into. I’ve always enjoyed Myrtle Beach, they do have some nice golf courses around the area, so that is what I have set out to some research on  over the next few weeks.

Myrtle Beach Golf is very well known, Arnold Palmer created Kings North, which is one of the most visually exciting and challenging courses in America. Golf Myrtle Beach style is something that attracts various famous golfers from all around and I think that I could totally get into any of the Grand Stand area golf courses that are available there.

Myrtlebeachgolf.net is one of the better sites that I have been told about and referred to. You can schedule your Myrtle Beach Golf Vacations, you can search all the Grand Stand golf courses and get quotes right online. You can book your tee-time and your lodging together. Their toll free number is 800.682.5699, which makes it nice and easy like.

Anyway, those are part of my thoughts for the day, I’ll keep you posted on what I find out and what I have arranged. In the mean time I’m getting back to reality and all of the Christmas plannings that are still needed to be tended to.

The Ultimate Spy Thriller by Robert Ludlum

Thursday, December 17th, 2009 | books, entertainment, politics | No Comments

I do enjoy reading a good book. I just finished reading one by Robert Ludlum, entitled Prometheus Deception and was pleasantly surprised with it. It was like watching a James Bond film, a real international spy thriller that was fast paced and full of action. A dead on picture of contemporary corporate strategy that I would encourage anyone to read.

Online Yellowpages

Every Christmas, for as long as I can remember, my parents have put on a spectacular feast for the whole family at their residence. This year my mother has had her plate full with health issues and other commitments and she is getting a bit frustrated with the whole holiday situation, I’m getting a bit worried about her, so I’m going to try and convince her to hold the festivities at one of the local restaurants so that she doesn’t have to stress out so much in the next week or so.

It is a task much simpler to tackle with the use of the Internet, I can do a local search and come up with good reliable information in a matter of minutes. Gone are the days that we need to use our local yellowpages (the paper version) to find what we need in order to suite our needs. Local.com is one of the better one stop shopping sites that I have used in the past and once again I’ve found them to be a tremendous help in finding a restaurant that would accommodate as many people as we have planned on coming on Christmas.

At Local.com you can businesses, driving directions, hours of operation, addresses, contact info, as well as reviews that are written by people that have used their service. I like that I could add any opinions that I might have as well although I doubt that I would unless I had a real issue with something or if I received service over and beyond what I had expected. Guess we will see how it plays out.
