Monday, ugh…..

Now that the holidays are done and over with, most of us are trudging our way back to work. It is most unfortunate that it is raining. Monday’s are bad enough, but when it is raining it really hurts. After having a four day weekend off for Thanksgiving it is a reality check that really bites!

Baby Showers

I have to say that for the record – I do not attend baby showers. I know that in this day and age more men are attending these parties and that it is no longer frowned upon for the father-to-be to attend much less other males members of the family and male friends along with co workers as well. But I am still from the old school that snickered at the guys that were dragged, kicking and screaming all the way to the baby showers and I have managed to refrain from having to attend one all these years.

I do however try and send a nice gift when possible. The latest invitation is for a baby shower which is being held in a few weeks that my folks are trying so very hard to get me to attend. The expecting parents both come from old family friends and a large gathering of men and women alike are expected to attend.  I’m sure it’s going to be a first class celebration and that a lot of fun will be had by one and all, but I plan on being as far away from there as I possibly can and that is that!

I have gone online and found some new and interesting web sites that offer baby toys and clothing. I’m not all that familiar with these types of products, products with names like jellycat, deux par deux, appaman, small paul by paul frank, and barefoot dreams, it’s a whole new and different kind of a world for me to be finding my way around in. It’s amazing how much type that have come up with for little ones these days!

So Long Mr. Monk

Tonight I will be watching the series finale Part One of Monk. I have enjoyed watching this show since day one and I’m sad to see it go. I haven’t missed very many through out the years so watching the reruns really don’t interest me after seeing it more than twice. USA is losing a good quality show, sad to say!

Grank Shores Resort

It has been such a long while since I have brought in the New Year either near by or on the water. In fact I have stayed pretty close to home for some time now, especially during the holiday seasons, except to visit with various friends and family that live a reasonable distance from home and haven’t moved out west or across the seas. One of my favorite New Year’s celebration many moons ago was held on a boat that belonged to an old family friend, down in the Myrtle Beach area. The weather was perfect, the ladies were all looking good, the drinks were flowing, a lot of champagne was consumed on board that evening I can tell you that!

We all stayed at a great Oceanfront Myrtle Beach Hotel that had great rates for that time of year and had a blast over the long holiday weekend. Watching a good quality  firework display from a boat is something to witness and remember fondly. With this in mind I was thinking of putting together a small group of friends, in which a few own boats, and booking a nice Myrtle Beach Resort for this New Year’s celebration and festivities. New Year’s Eve falls on a Thursday so we could get a way with another 4 day long week end this year.

I’m going to start looking online here shortly and see what offers are out there for accommodations. The Internet will play a vital role in this deal. I should be  able to find a decent enough Resort in Myrtle Beach that will please all that are going to be involved. This could work out well, I’m looking forward to hearing and talking about this more.
