9/11 and the 4th of July

The house that I grew up in had a circle in the driveway that held a wonderful display of flowers each spring and summer, along with a flagpole that we so proudly flew the American flag on each day that they weather permitted it to be flown. It was a big deal for us kids to assist our father with the rising and the lowering of this flag each morning and night. Since it was taken in each night and kept out of the weather, our flag lasted a good long while, thus we didn’t have to replace it very often. I do remember when the search was on for a new one, at one point, it took some time to find a replacement and we were all excited when my father finally located a new one and we got to fly a brand new flag for once.

Of course we didn’t have the Internet back in those days. If we had, it wouldn’t have been such a challenge for my Dad to locate a place that sold American flags, he could have gone online and find a site much like  united-states-flag.com that has numerous US flags for sale, as well as many custom flags to offer right online.

My parents still live in that house and that flagpole is still there in that circle and my Dad still keeps the American flag flying each day. Recently he has found that he really does need a new flag pole and has turned to united-states-flag.com in an effort to find and purchase a new flag pole, along with a new flag to fly before the 4th of July holiday arrives.

This is a great site to find all your flag, flag pole and all the accessories that you could possibly need. Since 9/11 the flag industry has been busy keeping up with the demands of our newly resumed patriotic pride, but United States Flag has plenty for sale in a variety of sizes and price ranges. The 4th of July is coming around soon, it’s not too late to put your order in before the holiday arrives.

Native Americana

Not much on the boob tube tonight, usually I can find something decent to watch on a Sunday evening, but tonight the pickings are slim. I’m glad that I have a DVR and took the time to record some programs for occasions such as this. A few months ago I recorded “Simply the Best of the Native American Music Awards” I have always enjoyed the music that is played by our Native American musicians of today.

Tonight is a good night to crack open a cold beer and listen to some performances from the nominated and award-winning artists, including Crystal Gayle, Keith Secola and Felipe Rose.

Heavy Equipment Operators

We can only hope and pray that President Obama will get our economy back on track as quickly as he possibly can. I hear that some construction is opening up, just not as fast as most folks would like to see it open up. So many people are in this field that are finding themselves in quite a pickle, I’d hate to see it get any worse than it all ready is for heaven’s sake. I know a good amount of people that are going back to school or receiving additional training and certifications in order to secure gainful employment, which is all good, when all is said and done.

A good old friend of mine is looking into attending crane operator training school which is being offered through Associated Training Services, which sounds like a good idea for him to participate in. He has always been a hands on kind of guy and should excel in this field with the proper training, much better than sitting in a stuffy cubicle all day long, five days a week.  ATS has the means to offer heavy equipment operator training schools and the information can be found at equipment-school.com. A good resourceful site to check out.

Angel Food Ministries

I’d like to take this opportunity to give a shout out to the Angel Food Ministries that are providing top quality foods at a great discount price to people that are struggling to keep food on the table. Although they are aiming to help people that are needy, there is no screening, no income verification needed. You can just go to their website of angelfoodministries.com were you can place your order from their ever changing monthly menus, first input your zip code and make sure that there is a distribution center (usually a church) near you.

I Love New York

There is a big push these days in getting the unemployment issue under control. The subject of the amount of available New York jobs is an important one to the “Big Apple” which is known for having great jobs that pay top dollar to offer in order to make a nice living and enjoy all that New York City has to offer. With so many businesses in these five Boroughs which are all very large and very vertical business districts with tons of opportunities in many industries, such as the news media, health care, finance, sales, publishing just to name a few. You just gotta love New York!
