The Urge to Travel to Alaska

I’ve had the pleasure of seeing a lot of this beautiful country that we live in called America. As a child, may parents took us all over the country in an effort to allow us to see so much more than what was in our own back yard. And in between my schooling I took advantage of the opportunity to travel around and experience life outside of my beloved home state that I still can and do call home.

One of my favorite places that I was lucky enough to travel to was Denali Park, which is in the great state of Alaska and if it wasn’t so darn cold I swear I’d move there in a heart beat. The people that live in Alaska have to be the most caring and warmest folks that I’ve ever had the pleasure of getting to know and the scenery that Alaska has to offer just can’t be beat anywhere in the lower 48 states. I’ve been there 3 times and have loved the adventures that I’ve experienced each time. It has been way too long since I’ve been there last and look forward to traveling there some time in the near future.

Alaska Travel is certainly made easy with the use of going online these days. Prices for many types of travel have drastically dropped due to the economy and I’d really love to take advantage of these much lower prices. To Travel Alaska would be a great way to get away from the scorching heat in the city that comes with each summer season.

Bad News All The Way Around

Monday, April 27th, 2009 | Health, life, money, politics, technology | No Comments

This Swine Flu is becoming a serious issue and we are not prepared for it one bit. Hold on folks - I do believe that we are in deep shit and drastic measures are certainly called for and hopefully are being looked into. As if the economic crisis isn’t outrageous enough to deal with.

Next Day Blinds, in the News

Yesterday turned out to be a scorcher, we hit the 96 degree mark come 1:00 and it made the day a bad day to try and spend outside doing anything fun or productive unless you were lucky enough to be close to a body of water to dip into and enjoy. Living in the city as I am that wasn’t the case, heck the pools haven’t even opened up yet, we have a few more weeks to go until Memorial Day.

Since my plans changed due to the heat, I ended up at the mall with a lady friend, enjoying the air conditioning for a time and hitting the food court for dinner instead of at the park, which was my initial plan of action for the afternoon. We ended up in JC Penney, in the home department, of all places. My date is currently into and interested in some new window treatments and wanted to see what they had to offer in that line.

I never would have thought that the Home Department at Penney’s would be doing such a booming business. This place was jam packed and customers were not happy with the heat, the crowds and with the lack of service that they were receiving and started talking amongst them selves. The words of next day blinds kept being over heard in the many conversations going on and we ended up talking with other folks that were discussing their experiences with next day blinds, it seems that they have a great reputation and are a preferred company by many for all types of window treatments, not only limited to blinds.

Apparently there has been a good amount of marketing for next day blinds, the TV and Radio ads are plentiful and business is booming. People are not buying new houses, but are fixing up the ones that they are currently in and having nice window treatments is a big plus in today’s decorating and next day blinds has locations everywhere to accommodate just about anyone. So my date was totally impressed and interested with what we heard about next day blinds and has decided to contact them to see what they can do for her place, within her budget. So it looks like JC Penney’s in out and next day blinds is in for her home improvement needs.

Wine, Women & Song

I don’t know much about wines but I do know what I like when I drink it. I took my date to dinner at the local Olive Garden the other night. Just wanted something different and we were out that way, so we pulled in at a few minutes before 5:00. There was already a wait list, so we took a couple seats at the bar and on a lark we each ordered a glass of red wine. The bartender brought me a glass and I had a quick look at the bottle. It was Fuedo Arancio, by Nero D’Avola, from Sicily.

It is considered “lively and fruity.” I consider it very good and it goes well with anything Italian with a red sauce. If you have the chance to try a glass, do so at my recommendation. I wrote down the name of the wine and took it to the wine shop the very next day so I could buy a couple bottles to have on hand.

Indoor Lap Pools A Great Option For My Folks

My folks have been discussing different options that will help keep their health in good standing order. Neither one of them are spring chickens anymore, but still fairly active for their ages. I can only hope that I am as active when I reach that time in my senior years. They love to go out dancing, they are always going out on walks with each other and my mother has just recently starting yoga classes, but my dad has drawn the line there and refuses to join her in that aspect of keeping fit, which has my mother a little bent out of shape, no pun intended!

Dad has been talking about wanting to start looking into installing an indoor pool, a Swim spa to be exact. They have a neighbor that just bought one and it is now the talk of the neighborhood. It is one of the Hydrotherapy Pools that is great for rehabilitation, fitness, and relaxation, something that they both would benefit from. Aquatic therapy is a great way to work out and to have one in the back yard would be so very good and convenient for both of them.

I’m all for the idea. Check out this one website hydroworx.com that has some pretty nice looking Hydrotherapy pools. I really like their L-series that combines a jacuzzi along with a lap pool, that has the type of jets that allow you to swim in place, with an underwater treadmill, and enough bench sitting space to accommodate 6 people. Now that is the type of Rehab pools that  I’m talking about!

I’m all for the idea, it would certainly make my trips back home more enjoyable all the way around!
