Extra Large

Monday, April 27th, 2009 | Health, life | No Comments

I find it very disturbing that there are so many people who have let themselves go and have become grossly over weight. No one can deny the fact that when out in public the amount of people that you come across need to loss weight, and I’m not talking about the folks that could take off 10 or 20 pounds, but more the likes of needing to get rid of 50 to 100 pounds of blubber, ugh….While listening to the local news last night, I heard a new story that tells us that the numbers are in, statistics are now showing that 2/3 of the U.S. population are over weight! That is a ridiculous number and if that isn’t a wake up call, I don’t know what is.

Breakfast Thoughts

Monday, April 27th, 2009 | life | No Comments

As a kid, we were required to eat breakfast every morning beofre leaving the house. Even if it meant being late for school. However, if we were tardy we did get in trouble.Mother would often rise early and cook a hearty breakfast for the entire family. One of my favorites was her creamed chipped beef on toast, with a side of scrambled or fried eggs. I can’t help but think of Mother every time I enjoy creamed chipped beef for my breakfast.

Bedroom World, Selection, Service & Value

Funny how we become attached to certain material objects, such is the case in my home with my current bed and bedroom furniture. I know that it is plenty old and could use some work and most definitely a new mattress is long overdue, but I can’t seem to entertain the thought of replacing it and the other furniture in the room either. My grandfather passed down this wonderful antique bedroom set to me, a gift that I cherish dearly, it is all that I have left of him since his passing so many years ago.

Beds, I do believe, are a very personal thing, I’ve had many people tell me that I am in need of an updated version through out the years, but I’m not in any hurry to take the time to look around for a decent replacement, although using the Internet would certainly make the search an easier one.

I’ve seen a few nice looking sets here and there and even found a website that has a great selection of Wooden Beds at Bedroomworld.co.uk, a nice Wooden Bed would be the only way to go for my taste. I’ve placed a picture of one that I found there that I thought was pretty cool looking. Their Toronto Low Foot End Bed Frame which is a simple design that would look great in a more contemporary bedroom than I currently have, a nice look to be sure.

A Real Bike for a Real Man

A old buddy of mine just stopped by to show me his new bike. He’s sick and tired of the gas prices so he bought a new bike today. I guess I should clarify myself, he bought a new Harley. What he really got is a 2008 Softail Classic. It will get about 35 MPG in the city and over 50 MPG on the highway. He got a heck of a deal on it since it’s now the perfect riding weather, I bet as gas keeps climbing and the temperature keeps rising, the prices for the bikes will too. I’m not going to be surprised a bit if we don’t start seeing more and more bikes on the road. I’m even thinking about maybe buying one. Maybe. If you’re thinking about a bike, check out a Harley. That’s a real bike, not a toy.
