Flea Marketing
Decided to take advantage of the nice weather today and get some exercise, so my date and I went to the local Flea Market and spent a few hours checking out all of the interesting items that were put out for display and to sell. I have always enjoyed flea marketing, my parents got me into attending these wonderful and unusually events, I’ve found the most unique items here and there that I love and treasurer.
This particular flea market is fairly large, although today there were numerous empty spaces, I’m assuming due to it being fairly chilly and so close to the Thanksgiving holiday and all. It was cold early this morning, but it warmed up nicely come noon time and it felt good and brisk, just enough chill to get your attention and keep you alert.
We saw some pretty cool stuff, didn’t end up buying a darn thing, other than food and drinks, but we did meet and spoke with a good amount of friendly, entertaining and interesting people, vendors and spectators alike. A very enjoyable way to spend the day, plus I got off pretty cheap!
Never too old to learn new tricks….
I still consider myself to be a “newbie” of sorts, I haven’t even been blogging here for an entire year yet, but I can tell you that I have learned so very much since I started this site back in March of this year of 2008. Between friends, a few co workers and a couple select family members, along with researching on the Internet myself, I have gained a wealth of knowledge and have found yet another site that has helped me with a few things that I have had some questions/issues with.
At file-types.com, which describes itself as “Just another WordPress Weblog” you can find information that is extremely useful, especially if you use WordPress, as I do. Plus it offers many links to other good sites for further information, if desired. The latest post, just posted today, is concerning Widgets and how you need to download it from Yahoo, a small program that allows a person to store on their desktop, etc.
I learn most things by trial and error, so it is a good thing that my computer is pretty forgiving, something that alot of people are not so good at. And I learn by doing something repeatedly and constently and since I am on the computer for a good majority of my time, at work and at home it gives me the opportunity to try things over and over.
Headed for the door and hitting the road
The time has come to gather up all the things needed (my mother provided me with a short list this year) to attend and enjoy my family for Thanksgiving.
I’ll need to stop and pick up some flowers to present to my mother, just a token of my appreciation for all of her hard work that she has put into today’s big event. And to think that we are going to do this all over again in one short month for Christmas!
Astronomy Binoculars, a great gift idea for my niece
Something that I am strongly leaning towards for a nice holiday gift for my niece that I don’t get to see very often, since her mom and dad have moved out of state a few years back, is a nice pair of astronomy binoculars. I’m not all that familiar with these types of binoculars, but at OpticsPlanet.com I found myself learning a good bit about these wonderful new pieces of high tech equipment that interest me.
My niece is so into and totally interested in so many things, one of them being an avid interest in the sky and stars, and all aspects of astronomy, she all ready has a nice telescope that she has used for many years now but I think that if she received a good quality set of these astronomy binoculars, would make her almost nightly observations more enjoyable and versatile, to say the least.
This website is now offering a real nice good quality 2-PC Skymaster Astronomy Gift Package Celestron 20×80 SkyMaster Giant binoculars, with it’s Celestron Heavy Duty Alt-Azimuth Tripod for under $300, and they offer free UPS and APO shipping, which turns into a nice savings deal that I’d like to take advantage of. These may turn out to be the perfect gift for her, I’ll have to pick her brain this afternoon to see what I can find out about how see feels on this idea.
More last minute changes for Thanksgiving
We were not expecting to see my brother, his wife and daughter today for the annual Thanksgiving dinner at my folks place. My mother just called to say that he had just called and stated that their had been some last minute changes in their plans and that they would be heading out the door shortly to hit the road in an effort to make an appearance and stay for dinner with the rest of the clan.
Mother of course is frantic, with 3 more people coming that puts a kink into all of her seating arrangements, but she isn’t concerned at all with the amount of food, there is always way too much food left at the end of the evening, so three more eating won’t make a difference in the meal what so ever.
My brother’s daughter is my “favorite niece that I speak so fondly of now and them” and I’m glad to get the chance to see her and spend some time together any chance that I can get. And enjoying mom’s good home cooking, makes it all the better!
